Djay Pro Leverages AI to Instantly Transform Songs into Acapellas and Instrumentals

Unlocking Creativity with AI: A Look at Algoriddim’s Neural Mix in djay Pro AI

Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning have become commonplace terms, often appearing in product launches and press releases. While they might seem overhyped, exciting developments continue to emerge. Algoriddim has harnessed AI to enhance its djay Pro software, particularly with the introduction of the innovative Neural Mix feature.

Launched as part of the new djay Pro AI, Neural Mix utilizes Apple’s Core ML framework and the A12 Bionic chip (or higher) to offer on-the-fly audio separation. This technology allows users to manipulate audio tracks as if they were working with individual stem files, all extracted from a single streaming waveform. While the Automix AI feature remains a staple, the newly designed Neural Mix tools and refreshed user interface take center stage.

Neural Mix allows DJs to isolate and adjust segments of a track in real-time, focusing on three main elements: drums, vocals, and harmonics. The result is a more dynamic mixing experience, enabling performers to customize their sets on the fly.

During a live demo, the capabilities of Neural Mix were impressive. It effectively isolated and removed elements from a track, with minimal audible artifacts. The quality of the results, however, may vary depending on the device used and the structure of the music. For example, hip-hop tracks can be particularly suited for isolating acapellas, while electronic music works well for separating drums and harmonics.

For optimal performance, the iPad Pro 12.9 with an A12Z Bionic chip or the iPhone 11 series with an A13 chip are recommended. Any iOS device equipped with an A12 chip is compatible with Neural Mix, though earlier models running iOS 12 or later can still be used, albeit with limited performance.

Djay Pro AI featuring Neural Mix is currently available on the App Store for a $5 monthly subscription, which also applies to existing subscribers as an upgrade. The standard version of djay for iOS remains free but does not include these advanced features.
