On June 24, it was announced that during the Spanish Grand Prix, Formula 1 (F1) will introduce a new AI data robot named "Statbot," developed in collaboration with Amazon. Neil Ralph, head of technology partnerships at F1, shared that "Statbot" will leverage Amazon's AWS cloud computing technology during the Barcelona race. It will analyze extensive real-time racing data to provide live hosts with relevant background information and engaging anecdotes.
Previously, F1 Insights, powered by AWS, was incorporated into official broadcasts. This feature uses AI to deliver mid-race predictions based on real-time metrics such as car performance and tire wear, assisting viewers in understanding optimal pit stop timings and predicting overtaking opportunities.
Eric Gales, General Manager of AWS Canada, highlighted the potential for hyper-personalized fan experiences through these data insights. Neil Ralph further emphasized, "We aim to empower fans to choose how much data they want to see and which stories they want to hear."
