Google Expected to Launch Gemini AI in 2024: Latest Reports

Google has postponed its Gemini launch events originally set for next week, shifting its launch timeline to January, as reported by The Information. Gemini, introduced at I/O 2023, was highlighted as a foundational model featuring impressive multimodal capabilities in its early stages of development.

Initially, Google aimed to unveil Gemini before the year’s end, planning a discreet launch amid the holiday season. However, sources indicate that challenges with non-English queries prompted CEO Sundar Pichai to delay the release. Gemini is designed to process a wide array of applications, seamlessly integrating various data types, such as images and text, for advanced functionalities.

In May, Google stated, “Once fine-tuned and rigorously tested for safety, Gemini will be available at various sizes and capabilities.” Anticipated enhancements from Gemini are expected to benefit existing AI products, including Bard, Google Assistant, and Search. Given the critical nature of this release and the strong position held by rival OpenAI, Google is choosing to ensure a thorough launch rather than risk a premature rollout.
