Google has introduced its new Vids productivity app as part of Workspace Labs, designed with the concept that "if you can make a slide, you can make a video in Vids." Announced in April, Vids enables users to combine documents, slides, voiceovers, and video recordings into a cohesive presentation video for sharing with colleagues. By participating in the Workspace Labs preview, Workspace admins can opt in users to explore this AI-powered video maker.
Unlike AI tools such as OpenAI’s Sora, which create lifelike videos from prompts, Vids focuses on assembling presentations by allowing you to describe your vision for Gemini to build. Afterward, you can customize the video to suit your needs.
To get started, users can choose from a variety of templates, and royalty-free stock content is available to enhance their creations. A standout feature of Vids is its integration with Gemini, which automatically inserts stock footage, generates scripts, and even provides AI voiceovers, enabling you to create engaging presentations effortlessly.
