Last October, Endel announced its collaboration with Grimes to create a unique 'soundscape' in its music app designed to help users focus, relax, or fall asleep. This partnership, named AI Lullaby, blends Grimes' original music and vocals with artificial intelligence to enhance the listening experience. Initially, this feature was exclusive to iOS users, but now the soothing sounds have transitioned to Endel’s Android application, making it accessible to a broader audience.
What sets Endel apart is its focus on personalization. The app considers various factors, including the time of day and your body’s circadian rhythms to tailor the soundscapes. Users can enhance their experience by providing additional data like location, weather conditions, heart rate, and general activity. This information allows Endel to generate music using pure intonation and pentatonic scales, which are naturally soothing and easy for the brain to process. Additionally, Endel employs sound masking techniques to minimize disruptive noises.
Grimes partnered with Endel in search of a more effective sleep solution for her son, X Æ A-XII Musk. “When you have a baby, you rely on white noise machines,” Grimes shared. “It’s much easier to help them sleep if you expose them to some kind of audio. I wondered if this could be a more artistic approach.” With Endel, the answer is a resounding yes.
