Honda Unveils Cutting-Edge In-Car AI Assistant at CES 2023

At CES 2020, Honda showcased its long-awaited in-car personal assistant, developed in partnership with SoundHound since 2018. While the automaker touts "unprecedented" speed and accuracy, specific comparisons to leading AI assistants like Google Assistant and Siri remain scarce. However, you can activate Honda's assistant by saying "OK Honda," and it can infer contextual insights based on your location and prior questions.

In addition to the AI assistant, Honda introduced other innovative concepts, including "Smartphone as Brain." This platform enhances safety by enabling drivers to control specific phone functions using voice commands or a vehicle's physical controls via Bluetooth.

Many automakers are exploring solutions to reduce distracted driving. For instance, Volvo plans to implement interior cameras to monitor driver attention. Honda's approach is less intrusive and aligns with traditional methods employed to address this critical issue.

While it may be challenging for Honda to surpass the impressive 3E-D18 mobility robot presented in previous years, it's refreshing to see the company prioritize practical advancements over ambitious concepts often seen at CES.
