On August 3rd, the Fashion Industry Digital Innovation Exchange Conference took place as part of the second Futian Fashion Creative Design Week. This event gathered designers, entrepreneurs, scholars, and industry experts from across the country to delve into the integration of digitalization and artificial intelligence in the fashion sector.
Experts discussed how AI can revitalize the fashion industry and create new momentum for high-quality industrial development. Professor Sun Shouqian from Zhejiang University focused on the transformative impact of cutting-edge technologies on fashion design, sharing insights on three key areas: kinetic energy, scenarios, and business models. He emphasized that AI-generated content (AIGC) has become a crucial engine driving new productivity in design, shifting priorities from product-centric to a higher pursuit of value.
Professor Wu Haiyan from the China Academy of Art analyzed the fashion industry's ecosystem in the context of the digital era, advocating for a systematic and foundational digital infrastructure. She stressed the importance of embedding cultural and artistic elements into brand identity and using digital design to lead lifestyle changes. Wu underscored that while intelligent technologies rely on digital foundations, their unique characteristics stem from culture and that effective storytelling hinges on solid research.
Liu Chen, founder of Style 3D, provided an overview of the development of the AI and AIGC industries. He highlighted the deepening integration of the fashion sector with digital technologies, forecasting that the industry will evolve towards a fully digital product lifecycle, where brands must think critically about their digital scenarios.
Weifeng Wei, design director at LeapX Design, reflected on the design philosophy behind the household robot "Xiao Bu" to explore new forms of AI hardware. He showcased the rapid advancements and innovative potential of AI and robotics expected over the next decade.
During the conference's roundtable discussion, participants shared insights from their distinct expertise. Tan Lin from Peking University HSBC Business School, Wang Wen, Vice Director of the Fashion Art Committee of the Chinese Artists Association, Assistant Professor Hong Wudi from Shenzhen University, Huang Zhen, founder of CHIMER AI, and Huang Zizhou, founder of Shenzhen Lingtu Shanchuang Technology Co., discussed the application of digital technology in the fashion industry, offering valuable perspectives and insights.
The consensus among experts was that the deep integration of technology and fashion will drive innovation in design, enhance efficiency, optimize production processes, and improve user experiences. They highlighted that AI technology could not only boost a brand's innovative capabilities but also leverage data analysis and intelligent methods to better understand and meet consumer demands. The insights shared during the conference provided valuable strategies for the fashion industry to tackle future challenges, seize new opportunities, and achieve transformation and upgrades.
