Intel Launches New Enterprise-Focused GenAI Software Company for Innovative Solutions

Intel Launches Articul8 AI: A New Player in Generative AI for Enterprises

Intel is poised to make significant strides in the enterprise AI software market by spinning out a new platform company backed by DigitalBridge, an asset manager based in Boca Raton, Florida. The new entity, named Articul8 AI (a creative take on “Articulate AI”), builds on a successful proof-of-concept developed from Intel's collaboration with Boston Consulting Group (BCG) last May. According to Reuters, Intel leveraged its hardware alongside a mix of open-source and proprietary software to create a generative AI system capable of analyzing text and images within BCG’s secure data centers.

The development of this advanced AI solution took approximately two years at Intel, with recent enhancements tailored specifically for BCG's requirements, as reported by CRN. Initially, BCG served as both the primary customer and go-to-market partner for the system. Recently, Intel has expanded its focus, aiming to roll out the platform to clients in sectors such as financial services, aerospace, semiconductors, telecommunications, and other industries that demand high security and specialized knowledge, according to an Intel spokesperson.

“Articul8’s generative AI software was meticulously designed to meet the unique demands of enterprises, ensuring rapid deployment, scalability, security, and sustainability—while being cost-effective,” the spokesperson shared via email. “The platform allows businesses to maintain their data, training, and inference within their own security perimeters. Additionally, Articul8 supports various deployment options, including cloud, on-premises, or hybrid configurations.”

Arun Subramaniyan, previously a VP and GM within Intel’s data center and AI division, will take the helm as CEO of the newly spun-out company. The Articul8 team will be composed primarily of former Intel employees, and Intel will retain a minority stake in the new venture.

In addition to Intel and DigitalBridge, which is publicly traded and heavily invested in data center projects, other investors in Articul8 include Fin Capital, Mindset Ventures, Communitas Capital, GiantLeap Capital, GS Futures, and Zain Group.

Intel’s partnership with Articul8 is set to remain strategically close, with plans for Intel to utilize Articul8’s enterprise generative AI software for both internal applications and to offer it to external customers as part of a collaborative marketing strategy. This initiative aims to boost demand for Intel’s computing products and capitalize on Articul8’s expertise in AI as Intel strives to expand its presence in the generative AI landscape.

Reuters highlights that the establishment of Articul8 is part of Intel's broader strategy to seek external funding for its various business divisions. The company has previously spun off its automotive chip division, Mobileye, divested its memory chip segment, and anticipates a future public offering of its programmable chip unit.

These strategic spinouts are integral to CEO Pat Gelsinger’s revival plan for Intel, which includes constructing new chip manufacturing facilities in the U.S. and Europe, as well as introducing innovative chip fabrication technologies over the next four years. Articul8 specifically aligns with Gelsinger's vision to deliver new software products—including generative AI solutions—that can compete with offerings from industry giants like Nvidia and AMD, enhancing the appeal of Intel’s hardware across various applications.
