On May 26, it was reported that Baidu launched its advanced model product, Wenxin Yiyan, in March, showcasing its prowess in five key areas: literary creation, commercial copywriting, mathematical reasoning, Chinese comprehension, and multimodal generation. At the 2023 Zhongguancun Forum, Baidu founder Li Yanhong announced the upcoming official release of version 3.5 of the Wenxin model.

During the forum, Li highlighted the transformative impact of large models on artificial intelligence and the broader world. He noted that advancements in computing power and data analytics have given rise to intelligent capabilities. Unlike earlier AI systems that learned only predefined skills, this new model can acquire skills through unsupervised learning.

In just over a month of internal testing, Wenxin Yiyan has undergone four significant technical upgrades, decreasing inference costs to one-tenth of their original value and boosting performance nearly tenfold. Li stated that Baidu is the first major global company to unveil a large model product that directly competes with ChatGPT.

This achievement reflects Baidu's ongoing commitment to innovation in AI technology.
