Microsoft is launching the Reading Coach as a standalone app, enhancing its educational tools within Microsoft Teams. This app is part of the Reading Progress suite aimed at improving literacy for students both in the classroom and at home. Leveraging artificial intelligence, the tool offers personalized feedback and specific suggestions for enhancing reading skills, including pronunciation. It will be available for free to anyone with a Microsoft account.
With regular use, the AI will identify words that students often mispronounce or misunderstand during reading sessions. To maintain engagement, the program allows readers to select prompts that can alter the storyline as they progress.
Teachers can integrate this tool into their classrooms through various learning platforms starting in Spring. In the meantime, educators can access it in preview this month. The Reflect tool within the program enables teachers to gauge student sentiment towards assignments, helping them identify which tasks excite students and which may need reevaluation.
Additionally, Microsoft has rolled out new features for its Teams for Education app, aimed at helping educators customize content for digital learning. The Classwork tool will utilize AI to highlight key messages in assignment instructions based on specific instructional goals. The Assignments tool simplifies rubric creation, allowing teachers to tailor outlines according to grade level, evaluation scale, and other criteria.
