Microsoft aims to enhance the utility of its generative AI solutions for teams, particularly within large corporations and enterprise organizations.
This morning at its annual Build developer conference, Microsoft unveiled Team Copilot, the latest addition to its Copilot suite of generative AI technologies. Unlike previous Copilot products, Team Copilot functions as a comprehensive set of features designed to "enhance collaboration" and "simplify project management."
"Team Copilot enables teams to boost their productivity and creativity by automating time-consuming administrative tasks," stated Jared Spataro, Corporate Vice President of AI at Work at Microsoft, in a blog post.
Team Copilot integrates seamlessly with Microsoft Teams, its videoconferencing platform, allowing users to manage meeting agendas and collaboratively take notes. Within text chats, Team Copilot summarizes discussions (with hopes for accuracy) and addresses questions regarding the content shared in the group.
Extending beyond Teams, Team Copilot also works with Loop and Planner, Microsoft's collaborative planning tools, to assign tasks, monitor deadlines, and alert team members when their input is required. In Planner, Copilot can decompose large tasks into manageable steps and provide insights on task progress, priority levels, and stakeholder workloads.
Microsoft plans to offer Team Copilot features in preview later this year for customers holding a Copilot for Microsoft 365 license, which starts at $30 per user per month.
