OpenAI Launches ChatGPT Subscription Service Tailored for Small Teams

OpenAI is introducing a new subscription plan for ChatGPT, its popular AI chatbot, specifically designed for smaller, self-service teams.

Named ChatGPT Team, this plan offers a dedicated workspace for teams of up to 149 members along with essential admin tools for efficient team management. All users in a ChatGPT Team gain access to OpenAI’s latest models — GPT-4 (text generation), GPT-4 with Vision (which processes images and text), and DALL-E 3 (image generation) — plus enhanced capabilities for ChatGPT to analyze, edit, and extract information from uploaded documents.

ChatGPT Team empowers team members to create and share GPTs, which are custom applications built on OpenAI’s powerful text-generating AI models. No coding skills are necessary; these GPTs can be designed to be as straightforward or sophisticated as desired. For instance, a GPT could analyze a company's proprietary codebases, allowing developers to ensure style consistency or produce code that adheres to best practices.

As an extra incentive, OpenAI has stated that ChatGPT Team users will receive future updates with additional features and enhancements, and importantly, the company will not use team data or conversations for model training.

Priced at $30 per user per month or $25 per user per month if billed annually, ChatGPT Team is more expensive than ChatGPT Plus, OpenAI’s individual premium plan, which costs $20 per month. However, it is significantly more affordable than ChatGPT Enterprise, which can reach $60 per user per month, requiring at least 150 users with a 12-month contract.

ChatGPT Team is ideally suited for small- to medium-sized business customers seeking collaborative ChatGPT features at a reasonable cost. This market is likely to grow; a recent ResumeBuilder survey found that 49% of companies currently use ChatGPT for various applications such as coding, crafting content like job descriptions, and summarizing documents, with an additional 30% planning to adopt it in the future.
