Google Highlights 'AI' Over 120 Times in I/O Keynote Address

Google I/O 2024 lasted 110 minutes, yet Google referenced AI an impressive 121 times, according to their own count. CEO Sundar Pichai concluded the presentation by playfully noting that the company had done the “hard work” of tallying these mentions for the audience.

While it was no surprise that AI dominated the discussion, the frequency of references is remarkable for a keynote of this duration.

The star of the show was Gemini and its various iterations, following a lively opening performance by Marc Rebillet. Google is seamlessly integrating the LLM-powered platform into nearly all its products, including Android, Search, and Gmail.

In the lead-up to this event, Google faced strong competition, as OpenAI’s recent GPT announcement created quite a buzz just a day earlier at Shoreline Amphitheater. Additionally, Apple is anticipated to unveil a partnership with OpenAI at its upcoming WWDC developer conference next month.

Curious about how often AI featured in the keynote?
