Picsart, a leading photo-editing startup supported by SoftBank, announced on Thursday its collaboration with Getty Images to create a custom AI model tailored for its 150 million users. This partnership aims to deliver responsible AI imagery to creators, marketers, and small businesses utilizing Picsart's platform.
This innovative model will be developed from the ground up and exclusively trained on Getty Images’ licensed creative content. According to Picsart, this collaboration will empower subscribers to generate unique images with full commercial rights. Users can leverage Picsart’s extensive editing tools to enhance or personalize these assets.
By developing a model based solely on licensed content, Picsart intends to provide its users with secure and responsible AI creative tools amid growing concerns surrounding AI-generated images and copyright matters.
The model is being constructed by Picsart’s AI lab, PAIR, and will be made accessible through the company’s API services.
"Picsart offers endless customization, content, and editing tools for a variety of applications, from social media ads to website graphics. This partnership will enable our users to create commercially viable AI-generated imagery from a top-tier brand," stated Picsart CEO and founder Hovhannes Avoyan. "We are excited to team up with Getty Images, the foremost commercial library, to bring this innovation to market."
Picsart plans to unveil the model later this year and is also working to incorporate Getty Images video content into its platform, making it available to Plus members.
Picsart isn’t alone in its pursuit of responsible AI imagery; the company follows in the footsteps of other startups like AI image generator Bria and Runway, which are also collaborating with Getty Images on similar initiatives.
