Towards a Sustainable Future
Samsung recycles 14% of all its plastics and is dedicating resources to a more sustainable future through the SmartThings Energy program, which now integrates with Tesla devices. With over 500 million smart devices shipped annually, Samsung aims to infuse AI and hyperconnectivity into everyday life.
“AI has the potential to save us a lot of time,” Han remarked. “Intelligence is becoming an integral part of our lives, making our experiences more personal. Our goal is to bring AI to millions worldwide, simplifying and enhancing its usability.”
Inhee Chung, Vice President of the Corporate Sustainability Center at Samsung, spoke about the company's commitment to creating a circular economy for its devices, from production to recycling. She noted that recycled plastic constitutes 14% of all plastic in Samsung products.
Additionally, Samsung is investing in accessibility features to ensure inclusivity. Innovations like auto-open doors, audio subtitles through an AI-enabled text-to-speech feature, and the Relumino mode assist individuals with vision impairments.
Ballie: The Friendly AI Assistant
Samsung unveiled an 8K projector with wireless transmission and showcased Ballie, an AI companion that interacts with other Samsung devices. Initially introduced as a prototype in 2020, Ballie now performs tasks like controlling devices and responding to user commands.
Samsung demonstrated how Ballie could engage a dog at home, playing projected films or providing remote interactive distractions for pet owners at work. AI will also assist in the kitchen, suggesting recipes based on available ingredients. Additionally, Samsung highlighted ReadyVision, an AI-connected co-pilot from Harman, designed for use in cars or at home.
