Samsung has introduced exciting new AI features for its smart appliances, including AI-generated wallpapers for select refrigerators and an upgrade to its Bixby voice assistant. The enhanced Bixby will be available on five Samsung Bespoke appliances starting August 27.

AI-generated wallpapers are now available for Samsung Family Hub refrigerators launched in the US and Korea after 2022. Users can choose a theme from seven categories and select one of six art styles. The created wallpaper can be displayed on the refrigerator’s cover screen or whiteboard, or saved in an album for future use. A Wi-Fi connection is necessary, and users can create up to five wallpapers per day.

The upgraded Bixby will enhance user interactions by understanding complex commands and remembering previous conversations. For instance, users can ask their washing machine about dinner time and follow up by requesting that laundry be completed an hour beforehand. Additionally, Bixby can provide insights on error codes or explain unusual sounds from appliances.

However, only select Samsung appliances launched in 2024 will receive this Bixby upgrade. This includes the Bespoke 4-Door Refrigerator with AI Family Hub, the Bespoke AI Laundry Combo, and the AI WindFree Gallery Freestanding Air Conditioner.
