Studio Launches AI-Powered Online School for Musicians, Songwriters, and Producers
Today, Studio has unveiled its innovative online school, designed specifically for musicians, songwriters, and producers to learn from leading industry artists, create original songs, receive feedback from peers, and benefit from an AI coach that personalizes schedules and deadlines.
The waitlist is now open! Studio offers two pricing plans: $199 per month or a discounted rate of $1,799 annually.
Dive into Studio’s Music School
Studio’s Music School features thousands of exclusive lessons led by over 110 renowned artists and instructors, including Charlie Puth, Kygo, H.E.R., Idina Menzel, Pentatonix, Ryan Tedder (frontman of OneRepublic), Alexander 23, Tainy, Chelsea Cutler, Jonas Blue, Shane McAnally, and Louis Bell.
With more than 100 topics available, students can explore areas like vocal production, songwriting, music business, sound design, music theory, cover songs, and musical theater. Genres covered include alternative, classical, country, EDM, folk, hip-hop, indie pop, lo-fi, metal, R&B, and more.
The online accelerator incorporates an AI-powered coach that utilizes OpenAI’s GPT-4 to create personalized curricula each month, catering to individual interests, goals, learning styles, and experience levels. The AI coach even accommodates students’ schedules—if a student has a vacation planned, it will adjust to ensure continued progress. Students can designate specific hours to commit to their lessons.
Each student receives tailored projects, and by the end of the month, they will have completed at least one polished, release-ready song.
Innovative AI Technology Behind the Scenes
In addition to GPT-4, the AI coach employs two proprietary frameworks addressing key limitations of GPT-4 in educational design, such as long-term planning, pacing, sequencing, and effective personalization, as highlighted by co-founder Max Deutsch. “GPT-4 faces challenges in creative education, like music, where there are no definitive ‘correct’ answers,” he explains.
These frameworks draw from Studio’s extensive library of video lessons, insights from the curriculum design team, and years of outcome-based student data to identify which lessons and projects produce optimal results for various types of learners.
“The synergy of GPT-4 and these frameworks enables us to create highly effective, well-paced, well-sequenced, and personalized curricula for our students, ensuring they stay on track and motivated as they progress,” adds Deutsch.
Additionally, an algorithm connects students with a 20-person peer group based on shared preferences, providing valuable weekly feedback from fellow learners with similar interests.
Designed for Intermediate and Advanced Creatives
It's important to note that Studio’s Music School caters to creatives who already have a foundational understanding of music and are looking to improve their skills; it is not intended for complete beginners entering the music industry. While no specific equipment is necessary for participation, many students typically utilize some form of music software or Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) along with microphones for recording.
Deutsch also reveals that Studio plans to launch more AI-powered learning platforms later this year, focusing on fields such as writing, filmmaking, and design.
Founded in 2017, Studio aims to bridge gaps in the creative education landscape, focusing on areas such as music, performing arts, and baking that often receive less attention. The platform now serves over 1 million students worldwide.
To date, Studio has successfully raised $60 million in funding from a diverse group of investors, including Forerunner Ventures, Human Capital, Greenoaks Capital, Floodgate, Jeffrey Katzenberg’s WndrCo, Airbnb co-founder Joe Gebbia, LinkedIn chairman Jeff Weiner, Instagram co-founder Mike Krieger, StitchFix founder Katrina Lake, Yelp founder Jeremy Stoppelman, Intuit founder Scott Cook, Zillow founder Spencer Rascoff, and more.
