Tesla Develops a Cutting-Edge AI Humanoid Robot: What to Expect

Tesla is developing a humanoid robot called the Tesla Bot, as revealed by Elon Musk during the automaker's AI Day event. Designed to be friendly and non-threatening, the Tesla Bot will be slow and light enough for a person to easily outrun or overpower it—essentially serving as a safeguard against any hypothetical robot uprising in the future.

The Tesla Bot will utilize an advanced artificial intelligence system, similar to the Autopilot technology found in Tesla vehicles. It is intended to perform various dangerous and repetitive tasks, enabling it to navigate real-world environments without needing detailed instructions. Musk highlighted its ability to follow simple commands, such as "Please pick up that bolt and attach it to the car with that wrench," and to take care of everyday chores like grocery shopping.

While only an image of the Tesla Bot was showcased at the event, the company has a clear vision for its design. Standing at 5'8" tall and weighing 125 pounds, the robot will be constructed from lightweight materials and feature a screen as its face to display useful information. It is expected to move at a top speed of 5 mph—slightly faster than the average human walking speed—and can carry loads of up to 45 pounds.

Musk stated that a prototype of the Tesla Bot is expected to be ready within the next year, though potential delays are not uncommon for ambitious projects like this.
