Tezi Develops an AI Agent Tailored for Hiring Managers

Tezi: Revolutionizing HR Recruitment with AI Agents

AI agents are capturing attention across industries, and Tezi, an innovative early-stage startup, is developing a cutting-edge solution specifically for HR teams. Tezi's AI-powered bot promises to streamline the recruitment process by efficiently analyzing resumes to identify candidates that meet job criteria, scheduling interviews on recruiters’ calendars, and sending out communication to candidates.

Recently, the company announced a $9 million seed funding round to propel its journey toward launching a fully functional product.

Currently, Tezi is rolling out its alpha version with a select group of design customers this week, according to CEO and co-founder Raghavendra Prabhu. While automated resume screening has been prevalent in HR, Tezi aims to leverage the capabilities of modern large language models (LLMs) to create a more advanced recruiting tool. “The combination of reasoning and natural language enables us to build a solution that significantly differs from traditional software in this domain,” Prabhu explained.

Co-founder and COO, Jason James, emphasizes that many existing tools fall short. “Imagine receiving a thousand job applications. Previous AI and ML algorithms might sort these resumes effectively, but human intervention is still necessary for email communications and interview scheduling. We envision a complete end-to-end workflow, moving beyond basic ranking,” he stated.

The founders recognize that human oversight is still essential at this stage, and they hope to achieve full automation as models evolve. Additionally, they note that the quality of candidate pools depends heavily on the clarity of prompts and job descriptions provided by employers.

While aware of the potential for bias in automation, Tezi is actively working to reduce it. Their strategy focuses on objectively assessing inputs from hiring managers against candidate resumes. “We cannot control biases introduced by employers, but we strive to prevent our systems from introducing bias through algorithmic processes,” James noted. By avoiding reliance on historical hiring patterns, they aim to match candidates based on skills and other criteria defined by hiring managers.

Tezi has trained its models using 250 million profiles, which they have licensed from various data providers, while collaborating with OpenAI and Anthropic to tailor these models to their specific hiring needs.

Founded earlier this year, Tezi is currently engaging with 15-20 design customers to refine its product, with plans to expand into a broader beta distribution later this year.

The recent $9 million seed funding round was led by 8VC and Audacious Ventures, with contributions from Liquid 2, Afore, PrimeSet, South Park Commons, and several industry angel investors.

Tezi is poised to change the landscape of recruitment with its AI-driven approach, making the hiring process more efficient and effective for HR teams.
