Transform Your Searches into Shareable Pages with Perplexity AI’s Exciting New Feature

AI-powered summaries of web pages are becoming a common feature in many modern AI tools. A notable advancement in this realm is the Arc browser's Arc Search app, which is working towards generating detailed and well-formatted web pages based on user queries. Additionally, Apple is rumored to introduce its own smart recap feature for web pages and articles. Joining this innovative trend is Perplexity AI.

With Perplexity Pages, this unicorn startup aims to assist users in creating visually appealing reports, articles, or guides effortlessly.

Both free and paid users can easily find the option to create a page in the library section. By entering a simple prompt, such as “Information about the Sahara Desert,” users can prompt the tool to generate a comprehensive page. They can also select an audience type—beginner, advanced, or general—to ensure the tone of the text aligns with their needs.

Perplexity’s algorithms are designed to produce detailed articles with clearly defined sections. Users have the flexibility to request rewrites or reformatting of specific sections or even remove unwanted parts. Moreover, there's an option to expand the content by prompting the AI to elaborate on specific subtopics. Perplexity also streamlines the process of finding and inserting relevant media, including images and videos.

These pages are not only shareable but also searchable on Google. Users can share links to their pages, enabling others to ask follow-up questions related to the topic. Additionally, users can transform their current conversation threads into pages with just a click.

Henry Modisett, Perplexity’s head of design, expressed that the company seeks to harness its core technology to turn Perplexity into a research tool that is more shareable. Interestingly, Modisett brings over eight years of product design experience from Quora to the team.

“Our users were already sharing their search pages, so we aimed to create a more visually appealing format,” Modisett explained in a recent interview.

He further emphasized that while the AI quickly begins generating responses, completing the page may take a couple of minutes. This led to challenges in designing engaging animations to enhance user experience during the wait.

There has been significant discussion around how AI-generated content will influence blogging, journalism, and the broader web landscape. Perplexity positions this tool as a means of information curation rather than solely content generation.

“Our approach emphasizes user curation of information—the users determine the focus and organization of the page. They are making key decisions, so it’s not entirely AI-generated,” Modisett clarified.

He added, “Users infuse their unique taste into the pages. While not everyone has the knack for creating appealing pages, there is an essential human element in decision-making that contributes to making the content interesting.”

Currently, the Perplexity Pages feature is being rolled out to a select group of users, with plans for broader availability in the future. Although users can only create pages via the web, they are accessible on both web and mobile platforms.
