Tangram Vision Unveils HiFi: A Game-Changing 3D Depth Sensor for Robotics

Tangram Vision, a pioneering startup specializing in robotic perception software and hardware, has introduced its new 3D depth sensor, HiFi, which integrates advanced computer vision capabilities into an accessible, off-the-shelf product priced at $549.

The HiFi sensor is designed to simplify the integration of AI-enhanced 3D data into robotic systems. “Our goal is to make it easy for developers to incorporate complex sensing capabilities into their robots,” said Adam Rodnitzky, cofounder and COO of Tangram Vision.

HiFi combines high-resolution 3D sensing with AI processing and embedded computer vision algorithms, significantly easing the burden of calibration, navigation, and running neural networks essential to robotics.

“Robotics traditionally relies heavily on sensors, but integrating them can be cumbersome due to calibration and maintenance issues. With HiFi, we've embedded the complex software directly into the device," Rodnitzky explained.

By managing these intricate functions internally, HiFi empowers even small teams to harness sophisticated computer vision technology, accelerating the development of robotic applications.

Tangram Vision is launching the HiFi on Kickstarter, offering early backers discounts of up to 50% off the retail price. Previously, the company leveraged Kickstarter to debut an early 3D sensor prototype, citing the platform's developer access as a vital factor for its return.
