Tripp Unveils Kōkua XR: AI-Powered Meditation Guide for Meta Quest Users

Tripp Launches AI Meditation Experience Kōkua XR on Meta Quest

Wellness tech company Tripp has launched the beta version of its AI meditation experience, Kōkua XR, now available on the Tripp app for the Meta Quest virtual reality platform.

Kōkua XR, trained on over 11 million global wellness sessions, utilizes Tripp’s mood data to provide personalized meditative reflections based on real-time user feedback.

Initially available on Tripp’s mobile app, this expansion into VR responds to the growing demand for customized wellness experiences in XR. The Tripp app is accessible on multiple platforms, including Meta Quest, Apple Vision Pro, HTC Vive Flow, Pico 3 & 4, PSVR 2, PSVR, Rift/Rift S, iOS, and Android.

Introducing Kōkua XR: A Unique AI Experience

Entering the Tripp app reveals a catalog of experiences, with Kōkua XR as a new addition. Named after the Hawaiian concept of selfless care, Kōkua XR harnesses Tripp’s extensive mood data to generate hyper-personalized, interactive AI reflections. Since its mobile beta release in February, session engagement has surged over 100%, demonstrating the strong demand for tailored wellness solutions and the effectiveness of AI-driven personalization.

“This rapid evolution has energized our team,” said Nanea Reeves, CEO of Tripp. “We are incredibly proud of this revolutionary product. Our vision of mood-on-demand, adapting to users in real-time, is finally coming to life.”

How Kōkua XR Works

Launching today on the Meta Quest, the Kōkua XR app engages users through conversation. Users can request assistance, view responses, and immerse themselves in calming visualizations enhanced by colorful lighting. The app includes fun features, such as telling jokes, and connects with large language models (LLMs) like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude.

Tripp employs a scoring system to optimize interactions, relying on LLMs that deliver the best user experience. “OpenAI has consistently performed well in this area,” Reeves noted.

The app features various environments, allowing users to immerse themselves in settings like tranquil forests or underwater scenes, each prompting individualized interactions tailored to enhance the user experience.

Tripp prioritizes community safety by collaborating with GGWP to ensure proper moderation and privacy in AI behavior. “This technology helps foster well-being,” Reeves explained. “We focus on supportive interactions tailored to user needs.”

Investor Insights

Tripp's evolution into AI represents a commitment to delivering personalized, adaptive wellness solutions. “From day one, the team envisioned experiences that adapt to users in real-time,” said Tim Chang, a venture partner at Mayfield who led Tripp's seed funding in 2017. “Their innovative focus on data and technology has set the stage for these groundbreaking advancements in mindfulness.”

Tripp’s AI integration enhances breath detection for dynamic wellness experiences, currently available in the app's “Breathe” category, focusing on breathwork exercises across VR platforms.

Building on User Feedback

Kōkua XR leverages data from over 11 million wellness sessions, allowing it to evolve continuously based on user feelings reported before and after experiences. The proprietary wellness-focused data system underpins Kōkua XR, ensuring powerful user support through tailored interactions. Patented technology enables the platform to adapt experiences according to mood and biometrics, such as heart rate and breathing patterns.

As Kōkua XR learns from interactions, it shapes a supportive platform that adapts to individual and community needs. “Our users have co-created Kōkua XR,” Reeves emphasized. “Their feedback enhances our capacity to support the entire community on their wellness journeys.”

Future Developments and User Engagement

Reeves envisions rewarding users for their contributions to Tripp’s evolution. About 70% of users have opted to share data to enhance the app’s AI models. The AI also streamlines development processes, allowing teams to focus more on creativity and improving user experiences.

Tripp aims to gather more personalized insights from user interactions, facilitating deeper connections and enhancing overall engagement. “The Kōkua XR app is not just an upgrade,” Reeves stated. “It offers a unique approach to wellness accessible across multiple platforms.”

Available for free on Tripp’s mobile app, Kōkua XR offers subscription options for VR access, priced at $3.33/month (annual) or $9.99/month (monthly). With $26.3 million raised and a dedicated team of 36, Tripp continues to lead the way in personalized wellness solutions.
