In the past, the free version of ChatGPT was quite limited in functionality. However, OpenAI has significantly enhanced it with new features and more advanced generative AI models.

Nonetheless, the free plan has its limitations, including daily usage caps for the GPT-4o model based on demand. Once a limit is reached, users are temporarily switched to the less advanced GPT-3.5 model. Furthermore, some data analysis features are exclusive to paid plans, which we will discuss in detail below.
ChatGPT Plus
For those seeking a more powerful ChatGPT experience, ChatGPT Plus is available for $20 per month.
This subscription provides users with a five-fold increase in capacity compared to the free plan, along with priority access to new tools, such as OpenAI’s macOS client for ChatGPT.
Subscribers to ChatGPT Plus also benefit from an enhanced data analysis feature powered by GPT-4o, allowing for the creation of interactive charts and tables from datasets. Users can easily upload files for analysis directly from Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive.
ChatGPT Team
If you manage a small business or organization and require multiple ChatGPT licenses with collaborative features, ChatGPT Team might be your solution. Priced at $30 per user per month, or $25 per user per month when billed annually for up to 149 users, this option is designed for teamwork.
ChatGPT Team offers a dedicated workspace along with admin tools for effective management. All members have access to the latest models from OpenAI as well as tools for analyzing, editing, and extracting information from files. Furthermore, team members can create and share custom applications similar to those in the GPT Store, tailored to specific use cases or departmental needs.
ChatGPT Enterprise
For larger organizations requiring more than 149 licenses, OpenAI provides ChatGPT Enterprise, a plan specifically designed for corporate use. While the exact pricing isn't publicly disclosed, it is generally reported to be around $60 per user per month, requiring a minimum of 150 users and a 12-month commitment.
ChatGPT Enterprise offers enhanced privacy and advanced data analysis capabilities, along with customization options above the standard offerings. Organizations receive a dedicated workspace and admin console, complete with management tools for overseeing employee usage of ChatGPT, integrating single sign-on, domain verification, and analytical dashboards for tracking usage and engagement.
Enterprise customers can also utilize shareable conversation templates to create internal workflows and bots powered by ChatGPT. Plus, they gain credits for integrating OpenAI’s API platform to build fully customized solutions if needed. ChatGPT Enterprise users receive priority access to advanced models and consultations from an assigned account team, which includes training and consolidated invoicing. Companies meeting legal requirements can also opt for Business Associate Agreements to manage private health information like medical records.
ChatGPT Edu
ChatGPT Edu is a newly launched offering from OpenAI tailored for universities, catering to students, faculty, staff researchers, and campus operations teams. Pricing details have yet to be released, but we will update this section when available.
Similar to ChatGPT Enterprise, ChatGPT Edu supports SCIM, a protocol designed to streamline cloud identity and access management (with plans to extend SCIM to ChatGPT Enterprise in the future). While nonprofits worldwide may apply, OpenAI is currently not accepting applications from academic, medical, religious, or governmental entities.
