In 2019, amid significant global changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Adobe introduced the Adobe Experience Platform (AEP), a real-time customer experience management solution aimed at enterprises. This platform helps businesses harness vast amounts of customer data to develop personalized marketing, outreach, and advertising campaigns, all while adhering to relevant laws and standards.
At its launch, AEP was extensively beta tested by major brands like Best Buy, Home Depot, Verizon Wireless, and Sony Interactive.
Fast forward to today, and the marketing landscape has shifted dramatically with the rise of generative AI. Marketers can now analyze data through conversational queries, create content, and execute tasks more efficiently.
Adobe recently unveiled a significant upgrade to AEP: the AEP AI Assistant. This generative AI chatbot connects seamlessly with the AEP, providing access to an enterprise’s advertising and customer data, as well as brand assets and content collateral.
The AEP AI Assistant is designed to address a variety of queries marketers may have about their data, delivering insights almost instantaneously and generating personalized content tailored to user specifications.
First introduced at Adobe’s annual Summit in Las Vegas in March 2024, the AEP AI Assistant will roll out to all users in the coming weeks.
Functions of the AEP AI Assistant
Adobe highlights several questions the AEP AI Assistant can answer, including:
- “How do I build an audience segment?”
- “What is an identity map?”
- “How often is this audience segment utilized?”
- “Where is this data filing instruction used for proper labeling?”
Beyond providing text responses, the Assistant can pull up audience segments and features within the AEP tool, helping to identify high-value customers and the optimal times for re-engagement. For an example, view the demo video provided by Adobe.
Additionally, the AEP AI Assistant is user-friendly, catering even to individuals without a background in structured query language (SQL).
The Assistant is also linked directly to Adobe's AI image generation model, Firefly. Users can request the creation of complete marketing assets on demand, including emails, web pages, and internal content like creative briefs, complete with tailored copy and images.
Upcoming Features
Adobe plans to enhance the AEP AI Assistant with predictive analytics capabilities shortly. Users will be able to ask questions such as:
- “How many conversions can I expect from this segment?”
- “How would the outcome change if I added this attribute?”
While these features offer robust support for customer acquisition and engagement specialists, Adobe still faces challenges relating to creatives’ concerns over updated Terms of Service, which clarify the company's right to access and utilize creative content for moderation and machine learning purposes to enhance its services.
