The Galaxy AI was first launched earlier this year, with most features initially available only on flagship models released in 2022 and beyond. However, the 2021 Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra models also received this functionality. Unfortunately, the Galaxy S21 FE was not included in the initial rollout of "Select & Search," despite being equipped with the same Exynos and Snapdragon processors as its premium counterparts.

How It Works on the Galaxy S21 FE

Thanks to the latest security update from August 2024, users of the Galaxy S21 FE can now enjoy the "Select & Search" feature. This functionality allows users to quickly find information online by simply selecting or highlighting text or images on their screen, which prompts the phone to automatically perform a Google search. This feature is especially handy when browsing the web, viewing photos, or watching videos.

Activating "Select & Search" is straightforward; users can simply press and hold the home button or use a gesture to start. This update also includes the August 2024 security patch, which addresses 50 security vulnerabilities found in Android and Samsung's One UI, thus improving the overall security of the device.

How to Access the Update

The update was initially launched in Vietnam and is expected to gradually roll out to other markets. To check if your Galaxy S21 FE is eligible for the update, navigate to “Settings” “Software Update,” and then tap “Download and Install.”
