OpenAI CEO Meets SK Group Chairman to Explore AI Collaboration Opportunities

Recently, Choi Tae-won, Chairman of South Korea's SK Group, visited the United States to meet with CEOs from several prominent companies, including Sam Altman of OpenAI and Satya Nadella of Microsoft.

Choi announced these meetings on social media, although specific details regarding the date remain undisclosed; however, they likely took place on Wednesday or the day prior. SK Group confirmed that Choi’s meeting with Altman occurred at OpenAI’s headquarters, where they discussed the artificial intelligence industry and explored potential collaborations, particularly in high-bandwidth memory and AI-assisted services.

SK Hynix, a subsidiary of SK Group and a key supplier of high-bandwidth memory chips, aims to meet the growing demands of AI hardware. Notably, Altman had previously visited Korea in January, where he also met with Choi in Seoul, highlighting the strong relationship between their organizations.

Furthermore, discussions between Choi and Nadella focused on collaboration opportunities in AI-related technologies, including semiconductors, data centers, and large language models. These meetings underscore SK Group's proactive approach in advancing the artificial intelligence sector and fostering technology partnerships.
