OpenAI Seeks $6.5 Billion Funding at $150 Billion Valuation

On September 12, Bloomberg reported that OpenAI is in talks with investors to raise $6.5 billion, which would place its valuation at $150 billion—approximately 463.38 billion RMB. Sources also revealed that OpenAI is negotiating a $5 billion revolving loan, roughly 356.45 billion RMB, with banks.

As a leading unicorn in the artificial intelligence sector, OpenAI's latest valuation marks a significant increase from the $86 billion valuation earlier this year. According to a Wall Street Journal report on August 29, OpenAI is conducting a $1 billion funding round led by Thrive Capital, approximately 71.29 billion RMB. Microsoft, OpenAI's largest backer, is also participating in this funding round, though the company has declined to comment on the matter.
