OpenAI to Unveil New Strawberry Model in Two Weeks, Enhancing Reasoning Capabilities

OpenAI is set to launch its new AI model, “Strawberry,” focused on reasoning, within the next two weeks, integrating it into the ChatGPT service. While this release is ahead of previous reports from international media, the exact launch date may still vary.

“Strawberry” will function both as part of ChatGPT and as a standalone product. The specifics of user interaction with the model are not yet clear, but OpenAI may offer it as an optional feature. Compared to the standard ChatGPT, the “Strawberry” model will significantly enhance reasoning capabilities, although it will initially be limited to text processing.

One of its most notable features is that “Strawberry” takes 10 to 20 seconds to think before responding to questions, allowing it to provide more detailed answers. This approach distinguishes it within the realm of conversational AI and is considered a potential game-changer in the field.

OpenAI has previously outlined a five-tier framework for assessing progress toward general artificial intelligence (AGI). The first tier includes AI capable of human-like conversations, such as ChatGPT. The second tier encompasses intelligent reasoning AI, the third tier involves agents, the fourth features innovative AI systems, and the fifth tier represents organizational AI. The second-tier AI is designed to efficiently solve problems without tools, matching the capabilities of a human with a doctoral degree.

In July, OpenAI executives indicated that the company is on the verge of achieving a second-tier AI system.
