Recently, Figure AI, a humanoid robotics company, announced the launch of its next-generation humanoid robot, the Figure 02. This new model has undergone a complete redesign of both hardware and software. According to Brett Adcock, the founder and CEO of Figure AI, the concept design review for the Figure 02 took place in February 2023, following 18 months of development. He claims this robot represents the most advanced artificial intelligence hardware currently available.
The Figure 02 boasts significantly enhanced hardware compared to its predecessor, allowing for greater flexibility and agility in its movements. With the integration of OpenAI's latest large models, the robot can more effectively understand and respond to complex instructions. Its onboard computing and AI reasoning capabilities have tripled, making it more intelligent and adaptable in multimodal reasoning and task execution. The robot also shows improvements in visual, auditory, and language interactions, enabling it to handle intricate end-to-end tasks.
The applications for humanoid robots are continually expanding, with potential uses in commercial services, specialized scenarios, manufacturing, healthcare, and home services, among others. As technological advancements continue and the scope of applications broadens, the humanoid robotics market is rapidly growing. It is projected that the market size for humanoid robots in China will reach 2.76 billion yuan by 2024, indicating that it is still in its early stages. By 2029, this market is expected to reach 75 billion yuan, and by 2035, it could grow to 300 billion yuan. This reveals that the humanoid robotics industry is entering a period of rapid growth and opportunity.
