Legendary sportscaster Al Michaels will provide daily, personalized recaps of the Paris Olympics through an AI-generated voice on Peacock. This experience mimics the feel of a sports announcer in video games like Madden, delivering real-life Olympic coverage tailored to viewers.
To access “Your Daily Olympic Recap” in the Peacock app, users will need to enter their name (the AI can address most users by their first name) and select up to three sports of interest, along with two types of highlights, such as “Top Competition” or “Viral & Trending Moments.” Each morning, users will receive a curated rundown led by the AI voice of Michaels.
To ensure quality and accuracy, a team of NBCU editors will review all audio and clips before the recaps are released. While this oversight aims to prevent any AI inconsistencies, there’s still a possibility that some recaps may mistakenly feature inaccuracies.
The AI voice was developed from Michaels’ past appearances on NBC, using advanced technology to create this unique experience. NBCUniversal's in-house team employed proprietary methods to integrate cutting-edge language processing and voice synthesis.
The AI-generated recaps will be available starting July 27th in supported browsers and on the iOS and iPadOS Peacock apps. The first recap will showcase highlights from the opening ceremony, with personalized versions launching on July 28th.
