Apple Developer Academy Introduces AI Training Programs for Students and Alumni

Apple is ramping up its commitment to artificial intelligence (AI) with a focus on education. On Tuesday, the company revealed that it will be training all Apple Developer Academy students and mentors on the essentials of AI. Additionally, alumni from the Apple Developer Academy will also have the opportunity to participate in this training.

Starting this fall, students will gain hands-on experience in building, training, and deploying machine learning models tailored for Apple devices.

According to Apple, “The curriculum will cover the fundamentals of AI technologies and frameworks, including Core ML's capability to deliver fast performance on Apple devices. Students will receive guidance on how to build and train AI models from the ground up.”

This innovative curriculum will be made available to thousands of students and alumni from 18 Developer Academies located in Brazil, Indonesia, Italy, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, and the United States.

Apple also highlights that new technologies and APIs introduced at the recent WWDC will equip students with additional resources for app development. One notable feature, Swift Assist, integrated into Xcode 16, acts as a supportive companion for all developers’ tasks, enabling students to explore new ideas. Furthermore, Swift 6 brings enhanced functionalities to improve code clarity and facilitate concurrent programming.

“With the rollout of an AI-focused curriculum and other new technologies, we’re eager to see what students will create and share with their communities and the world,” stated Susan Prescott, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations, in a press release.
