OpenAI has announced that users of ChatGPT’s free tier can now create up to two images per day using its DALL-E 3 model. Initially, DALL-E 3 was available only to ChatGPT Plus subscribers when it launched in September. A notable enhancement of DALL-E 3 is its integration with ChatGPT, enabling the AI to generate prompts for image creation, streamlining the process.
For instance, during a demonstration, Aditya Ramesh, lead researcher of the DALL-E team, collaborated with ChatGPT to design a logo for a ramen restaurant in the mountains. ChatGPT provided an expanded prompt, leading DALL-E to generate four unique logo options.
OpenAI stated that the DALL-E 3 image creation feature is gradually rolling out, and many users may already have access. While writing this article, I successfully created two images using the ChatGPT Mac app before reaching my daily limit.
In related news, OpenAI has released a safety assessment of its GPT-4o model, appointed a new board member, and faced inquiries from Democrats in Congress regarding the company’s safety protocols.
