Internal documents from Apple indicate that the company prohibits employees from using ChatGPT and similar AI products due to concerns about the potential leakage of sensitive information. This policy is shared by major companies such as Samsung, JPMorgan Chase, and Citigroup, all of which have also implemented bans on the use of ChatGPT.
OpenAI has recognized vulnerabilities in ChatGPT that could compromise user privacy. In response, the company introduced an option to disable chat history in April and is developing a commercial version of ChatGPT designed to enhance data control.
Samsung has temporarily suspended access to ChatGPT on two occasions following three incidents involving leaks of confidential information due to employee use of the tool. The main issue with ChatGPT, Google's Bard, and other large language models (LLMs) is that data inputted into these systems can be used for further training, raising the risk of unintentionally exposing sensitive business information.
