Apple’s Annual September Event: ‘It’s Glowtime’

iPhone 16

As expected, Apple unveiled the iPhone 16 at its annual September event. CEO Tim Cook introduced the device as "designed from the ground up around Apple Intelligence." However, while the new AI capabilities will roll out later, a range of impressive features are already available.

The iPhone 16 boasts a 48-megapixel camera with a 2x telephoto lens and autofocus, significantly improving low-light photography by capturing up to 2.6 times more light. It also supports macro photography and enables users to capture Spatial Photos and Videos for viewing on Apple’s Vision Pro. In addition to the standard model, Apple launched the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, both powered by the new A18 Pro chip. Available in 6.3 and 6.9-inch displays, these models include a dedicated camera button and enhanced photography features for both stills and video. Customers can expect improved battery life as well. The updated speaker allows users to stream music and podcasts directly from the watch, while a new charging coil delivers 80% charge in just 30 minutes. With a full battery, the watch provides 18 hours of usage. Noteworthy updates include FDA-approved sleep apnea detection and a depth sensor designed for use while snorkeling or surfing.

AirPods 4

The event introduced AirPods 4, available with and without active noise cancellation (ANC), with a price difference of $50. Both models support USB-C charging, and the ANC version includes wireless charging and a built-in speaker for enhanced Find My functionality. The AirPods 4 are driven by the H2 chip, enhancing sound quality for both calls and playback.

iOS 18

Apple’s latest operating system, iOS 18, launched without its much-anticipated Apple Intelligence features, which are set to arrive later this year. Nevertheless, the update brings a host of new functionalities, like scheduled iMessages, emoji reactions, improved call history search, and customized app icons and Control Center layouts, including support for third-party apps.
