TikTok is rolling out an exciting new feature called Direct Post, allowing users to seamlessly share content from a variety of popular editing apps. This includes Adobe’s AI-powered Premiere Pro and Adobe Express, as well as other applications like Twitch, SocialPilot, and ByteDance’s CapCut. Designed primarily for third-party app developers, Direct Post enhances TikTok's existing "Share to" capabilities, which already enabled these apps to publish content alongside their own hashtags.
With Direct Post, third-party applications can not only upload videos directly to TikTok but also customize settings such as captions and audience preferences. Users can easily send this information to TikTok with a single click. This feature is especially beneficial for long-form video creators, who can now schedule their content for publication through social media management platforms.
The introduction of Direct Post positions TikTok to leverage advancements in the creativity app landscape, incorporating AI technology in video editing processes. To utilize this feature, creators must authenticate their TikTok accounts within the partnered third-party apps. These apps undergo an auditing process to ensure they meet TikTok’s standards before accessing the Direct Post Content Posting API.
A major partner in this initiative is Adobe, which debuted a suite of new AI technologies at its annual MAX conference. With Direct Post, Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Express users can harness AI-driven editing tools to enhance their content creation. “In today’s fast-paced environment, real-time content publishing is essential. Creators of all experience levels require tools that enhance efficiency and eliminate constraints,” said Deepa Subramaniam, Adobe's VP of Creative Cloud product marketing. “The new Direct Post feature in Adobe Express and Premiere Pro empowers creators to produce outstanding content quickly and without disrupting their creative processes.”
Additionally, TikTok has partnered with CapCut, a popular video editing tool by ByteDance, and Twitch streamers can now easily convert clips to portrait mode using Twitch’s Clip Editor for direct TikTok sharing. They can export their clips as drafts to continue editing later. The social media marketing tool SocialPilot is also adopting Direct Post, catering to professionals, teams, agencies, and businesses that need to streamline their social media strategies.
Developers of creative and video editing tools can gain access to the API. TikTok notes that support for photos will be added soon.
Overall, this collaboration enhances the TikTok experience, integrating innovative tools to help creators share captivating content effortlessly.
