Google has introduced Pixel Screenshots, an innovative AI-powered app designed for the Pixel 9 lineup. This app enables users to save, organize, and retrieve information from their screenshots effortlessly. Utilizing Google's private, on-device Gemini Nano AI model, Pixel Screenshots analyzes the content of images, making them searchable with ease.
During a demonstration at the Pixel launch event, Google showcased how users can capture a screenshot and automatically save it to personalized collections, such as “gift ideas.” You can also search through all your screenshots by entering relevant keywords, like “bikes” or “shoes,” with Pixel Screenshots retrieving all pertinent results.
How many forgotten screenshots clutter your phone?
Additionally, Pixel Screenshots can extract specific information from images. For instance, if you want to find the price of a shirt from a screenshot, simply typing “t-shirt price” prompts the app to pull the relevant data. Notably, the app will be exclusive to Pixel 9 devices.
While Pixel Screenshots shares similarities with Recall—an upcoming Windows feature that faced delays due to privacy concerns—it stands out by processing only screenshots taken manually. This design choice grants users greater control over what information the AI handles, making it a practical and user-friendly tool.
