Invoke AI has launched two innovative features for its AI-driven image creation platform: Model Trainer and Control Layers. These powerful tools provide users with enhanced control over how AI generates and modifies images. Additionally, Invoke has achieved SOC 2 compliance, ensuring a high level of data security.
In an interview with GamesBeat, Invoke CEO Kent Keirsey explained how these features allow for greater precision and customization in image creation. The Model Trainer enables companies to develop custom image generation models using as few as twelve pieces of their own content. Keirsey noted that this leads to more consistent visuals that align with a developer’s intellectual property, allowing AI to produce artwork that maintains a cohesive style and design.
Keirsey emphasized, “We’re helping the models understand what we mean by using certain language. When we specify a particular interpretation, we need around 10-20 images showcasing that idea or style. This can be applied to general art styles or specific intellectual properties.”
Invoke's commitment to data security, highlighted by its SOC 2 compliance, minimizes the risk of developers' images being used to create another studio's intellectual property.
How to Train Your AI
The second feature, Control Layers, enhances creative control by allowing users to define specific areas of an image and assign prompts to those areas. For instance, a user can designate the upper corner of an image for a celestial body by painting that area with the layer tool. This feature provides creators the ability to adjust image composition while preserving the overall design.
With Control Layers, prompts can be refined for individual sections, impacting only the specified area. Additionally, users can upload images to specific layers, choosing which aspects—such as style, composition, or color—the AI should retain.
Discussing the integration of these tools into game development workflows, Keirsey noted that many developers remain cautious about using AI, primarily due to copyright concerns. “Developers often require a human element—like a sketch or initial concept—before they incorporate AI-generated content. They are hesitant to proceed until they can assure copyright protection. Once that is established, we expect to see more AI integration in gaming. Invoke aims to support organizations by demonstrating human expression, providing new ways to showcase creativity, and expediting the copyright process.”
