MeetKai Collaborates to Develop Innovative Sports and Travel Metaverse Experiences

MeetKai is advancing its efforts to create metaverse experiences within the sports and travel industries.

Based in Los Angeles, MeetKai has partnered with Think450, the innovation arm of the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA), to launch a metaverse partnership at CES 2024.

This collaboration is set to unveil a digital version of "The Brotherhood Deli," a fan pop-up shop that previously operated at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.

Utilizing MeetKai's metaverse platform and AI-enabled digital twin technology, this bodega-inspired store will showcase a selection of player-endorsed brands and exclusive merchandise. Fans can explore this immersive retail experience via mobile devices or web browsers, accessing digital replicas of merchandise available for purchase from NBPA-endorsed brands.

In October, MeetKai also introduced a metaverse store for the Charlotte Hornets NBA team.

James Kaplan, CEO of MeetKai, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating, “At MeetKai, we’re thrilled to power the NBPA’s inaugural metaverse experience, offering fans unparalleled engagement with their favorite athletes. Collaborating with THINK450 has enabled us to create an interactive shopping environment that connects fans with the sport they love.”

The NBPA metaverse experience allows basketball enthusiasts to customize lifelike 3D avatars, interact with other fans, browse merchandise, virtually try on apparel, and make purchases that can be shipped directly to their homes.

Upcoming features include virtual meet-and-greets with players, an exclusive media lounge with previews of NBPA content, gamified contests for exclusive merchandise, and an opportunity to visit "The Brotherhood Deli" in person.

Weili Dai, executive chairwoman of MeetKai, remarked, “From our work with the Drone Racing League to the Charlotte Hornets, MeetKai has a proven track record of creating immersive sports experiences. Partnering with the NBPA is a natural extension for us, and we’re looking forward to expanding this partnership.”
