Presentations.ai Raises $3M to Revolutionize AI-Powered Presentation Tools for Businesses

Presentations.ai, an innovative Indian startup using AI to streamline the presentation creation process, has raised $3 million in a seed funding round led by Accel. The company’s AI-powered platform, which recently emerged from its beta phase, has already attracted millions of users worldwide and is set to scale its offerings further.

Let’s face it: presentations are a staple in business, from closing deals and updating investors to simply communicating milestones within teams. But despite their importance, crafting a compelling presentation can still feel like pulling teeth. According to Presentations.ai co-founder and CEO Sumanth Raghavendra, “People really struggle with that first draft.”

That’s where Presentations.ai steps in. Launched in 2023, the platform’s AI-driven tools have already been embraced by over 5 million users globally. The company’s goal is to become the "ChatGPT of presentations," making it as easy as possible to craft professional slides in a fraction of the time. “Imagine using AI to create a presentation, much like how you use ChatGPT to generate text,” Raghavendra said.

Founded in 2019, Presentations.ai had been working in stealth mode until the rise of ChatGPT in late 2022, when it saw an opportunity to introduce its product to a broader audience. Within three months of launching its public beta, the company amassed over a million users. Now, it's generating “millions of dollars” in profit, a remarkable feat for a startup still in its infancy.

Before Presentations.ai, Raghavendra had launched Deck App Technologies, a mobile app aimed at helping users create business content on their smartphones. While the app saw some success, it didn’t hit the mark as mobile devices weren't quite there yet for complex content creation beyond video editing.

With years of experience in building presentation tools, Presentations.ai is now ready to take on competitors, including tech giants like Google and Microsoft, who’ve also integrated generative AI into their presentation tools. Raghavendra is confident about their competitive edge: "We've been doing this for so many years, and the proof is in the pudding—lots of users who come to us have tried other tools, including those from Google and Microsoft, and still choose us."

In early 2024, the startup shifted from a fully free beta to a freemium model. Since then, it’s gained tens of thousands of paying customers, with prices starting at $200 per user annually in the U.S., though there are different tiers based on markets.

The company uses advanced LLMs (large language models) alongside its own specialized models to handle tasks like choosing the right charts for particular topics. It also integrates text-to-image models like Flux and Stable Diffusion, enabling users to quickly generate images for their decks.

Beyond the basics, Presentations.ai offers a slew of powerful tools, including customizable themes, AI-powered design assistants, and real-time collaboration features. The platform even supports multilingual presentations and provides brand-specific templates for businesses. Users can easily export their creations to PowerPoint or PDF for further tweaks.

For enterprise clients, Presentations.ai has built-in safeguards to prevent AI-generated "hallucinations" (inaccurate or misleading content). It also offers private hosting options and data protection features, ensuring that sensitive company information stays secure.

Looking ahead, Raghavendra plans to use the $3 million in seed funding to develop a dedicated presentation agent that can be embedded into any application. Additionally, the startup is preparing to launch an enterprise sales team to further expand its reach.

What’s even more impressive? The startup has spent “zero” on marketing. Thanks to its in-house IP and a relatively low AI patent cost, Presentations.ai enjoys higher profit margins compared to many of its competitors in the AI presentation space.

With key markets in the U.S., India, the U.K., Germany, Australia, Canada, and the Middle East, the company is already on a promising path. Investors backing Presentations.ai include prominent figures such as Vijay Shekhar Sharma (Paytm), Kunal Shah (CRED), Girish Mathrubootham (Freshworks), and Phanindra Sama (RedBus).
