Spotify is rolling out its AI-powered "DJ" feature to dozens of international markets, just six months after its initial release in North America.
Accessible through the "music" feed in the Spotify mobile app, this feature customizes users' listening experiences with a tailored selection of tracks, accompanied by engaging spoken-word commentary delivered by a synthetic voice. This commentary includes playful banter and contextual insights that reference specific songs and artists the user has previously enjoyed.
In essence, it functions like a personal radio DJ, curating each show to fit the individual listener's taste.
The music streaming leader first introduced the DJ feature in the U.S. and Canada in February, followed by its expansion to the U.K. and Ireland three months later. While still in beta, the DJ is now available to premium subscribers in approximately 50 global markets, including Sweden, Australia, New Zealand, Ghana, Nigeria, Pakistan, Singapore, and South Africa.
However, it's important to note that most of the European Union will not have access to this feature just yet. Additionally, in the newly included markets, the DJ feature will currently only be offered in English.
