Spotify is expanding its AI feature that generates personalized playlists based on text descriptions to more English-speaking regions. As of today, Premium Spotify subscribers in the US, Canada, Ireland, and New Zealand can access the AI Playlist in beta, having previously launched in the UK and Australia.
Users can find this feature within the mobile app by tapping the “+” button at the top right of their Spotify library. Selecting “AI Playlist” from the menu opens a chat box where users can describe their desired playlist, such as “spooky songs for Halloween” or “soothing folk music for a relaxing bath.” The feature also offers suggested prompts.
Currently, the AI Playlist beta is not available on desktop or web applications.
Here’s how to access the AI Playlist beta on Spotify’s mobile app:
1. Open the Spotify app.
2. Tap the “+” button in your library.
3. Choose “AI Playlist” from the drop-down menu.
The AI-generated playlists contain 30 songs and can be refined with additional prompts for a better match, such as requesting more upbeat tracks. Providing specific details like genres, moods, or artists yields the best results. In testing, the feature adeptly matched songs to niche descriptions, including “make me feel like a vampire hunter from Blade (1998).”
Spotify is actively refining this feature while it remains in beta, continuously learning from user interactions to enhance the AI Playlist experience.
