Tubi, the ad-supported streaming service owned by Fox, is introducing an exciting new mobile feature powered by OpenAI's GPT-4. This innovative tool, known as “Rabbit AI,” allows users to ask questions about content and discover new television shows and movies effortlessly.
Rabbit AI aims to deliver “hyper-personalized recommendations,” according to Tubi. For example, users can pose queries like, “Do you have any funny movies featuring sharks?” and receive tailored selections, which may include popular titles like “Sharknado” from Tubi’s extensive library of over 200,000 options.
Users can easily save their results to a favorites list by tapping the “bookmark” icon, enabling quick access later. Tubi will also maintain a “Rabbit Holes” search history, allowing viewers to revisit previous questions anytime.
This feature is currently in beta testing on Tubi’s iOS mobile app, with broader availability expected in the coming weeks. Additionally, Rabbit AI will soon be accessible for ChatGPT users who subscribe to OpenAI's services.
Blake Bassett, Tubi’s senior director of product, stated, “At Tubi, we have the unique advantage of offering content that’s tailored to viewers' current moods due to our vast library and advanced personalization algorithms. With Rabbit AI, we're reinvigorating the content discovery process.”
The launch of Tubi’s Rabbit AI follows OpenAI’s recent enhancement of ChatGPT, which now includes a voice feature for interactive conversations. Other major media companies, including YouTube, Amazon, and Netflix, are also investing in AI technology. YouTube recently unveiled various AI-driven tools, while Amazon announced a new generative AI feature for Fire TVs, enabling users to engage with Alexa through open-ended questions. Additionally, Netflix advertised a position for an AI product manager in July.
Tubi is experiencing significant growth, boasting over 74 million monthly active users.
