YouTube Music Introduces AI-Generated Radio Feature and New Song Recognition Tool in Exciting Update

YouTube Music is rolling out two exciting features to enhance song discovery on its platform. On Monday, YouTube announced the launch of an AI-driven conversational radio feature and a new tool that allows users to identify songs by singing, humming, or playing clips.

The AI-generated conversational radio feature is currently available to select Premium users in the United States. With this innovative feature, users can craft a personalized radio station by simply describing their music preferences. You might request “catchy pop choruses” or “upbeat party anthems,” and the app will generate a tailored listening experience.

The debut of this experimental feature was anticipated, as 9to5Google previously reported on YouTube Music's testing phase. This feature aligns with similar AI playlist generation tools being explored by Spotify, Amazon Music, and Deezer, providing users the opportunity to input text prompts for a customized music experience.

If you have access to this new feature, look for the “Ask for music any way you like” card on the app’s home screen. Clicking on it will open a conversational interface where you can type a custom query or select from suggested prompts. While currently available to a limited audience, YouTube plans to expand access to more users in the near future.

In addition, YouTube Music has introduced a new song recognition feature that allows users to search its extensive music catalog by sound. Tapping the “search” button reveals a waveform icon, indicating that you can identify a song by singing, humming, or playing its melody.

Unlike Shazam, the widely known song recognition app that requires the actual track to be playing, YouTube Music’s tool allows you to find songs through humming or singing. Initially available to select Android users, this feature is now fully rolling out to all users on both iOS and Android devices.

With these new features, YouTube Music aims to revolutionize how listeners discover and connect with their favorite tracks.
