Apple Intelligence to Add Support for German, Italian, Korean, Portuguese, and Vietnamese in 2025

Apple has announced that its generative AI service, Apple Intelligence, will support additional languages starting in 2025. The new languages include English (India), English (Singapore), German, Italian, Korean, Portuguese, Vietnamese, and other languages yet to be specified.

The feature will debut with American English as part of the upcoming iOS 18.1 update. Additionally, the company has confirmed that localized English support will extend to Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, and the U.K. later in 2024. Chinese, French, Japanese, and Spanish support is slated for release in 2025.

However, Apple Intelligence will face a significant hurdle at launch as it will not be available in two critical markets. Due to regulatory challenges posed by the Digital Markets Act, the service won’t be accessible on iPhones or iPads in the European Union. Apple has indicated that it is actively engaging with the European Commission to address these issues. It’s worth noting that Apple Intelligence is currently available in the EU through the macOS Sequoia 15.1 developer beta.

In China, Apple encounters even greater challenges, navigating local regulations surrounding generative AI models. The company has stated that discussions about Apple Intelligence in this vital market are ongoing.
