Google is poised to roll out a series of updates for its Gemini AI assistant, confirmed by recent findings from reverse engineer @testingcatalog.
According to shared screenshots, these updates were initially scheduled for release on July 11 and July 18. However, the update on July 11 has been postponed to July 15, where a new feature is expected to launch. On July 18, Google plans to unveil four new features for Gemini for the first time.
Testing Catalog has revealed the details of these upcoming features, although specific release dates have yet to be announced:
1. Imagen3 Image Generation Tool: In addition to VideoFX and Veo, Imagen3 will be primarily available to alpha testers within AI Labs, with potential future support for Gemini Advanced users.
2. Custom GPT “GEM”: Users will have the ability to view, edit, and copy GEM, accessible through a dedicated GEM manager tab. Although it has been in development for some time, GEM is anticipated to be a significant feature at launch, though it may face delays.
3. Memory and Personalized Responses: This feature has been embedded in the code for a while, akin to ChatGPT's memory function, and users will find specific options under “Settings.” However, it is labeled as “Personalized Responses,” indicating a potentially different user experience.
4. Integrated Recording with Google Photos: Users will be able to record audio and upload it in .wav format or select photos from Google Photos via the web. There may currently be issues with uploading multiple images.
5. Chrome Extension Integration: The interface includes an option to “send links in prompts,” necessitating support from the corresponding Chrome extension.
With these updates, Gemini's capabilities will expand considerably, enhancing the overall user experience.
