AI Mental Health Platform Raises $825K in Funding

Yung Sidekick, a mental health startup, recently secured $825,000 in pre-seed funding from Altair Capital and Ultra.VC, along with other VCs and angel investors. The innovative platform utilizes AI to streamline the documentation process for mental health professionals by automatically transcribing session audio into detailed progress notes and session reports within minutes. This helps reduce administrative burden on therapists and allows them to focus more on patient care.

Founded in 2022, Yung Sidekick aims to address the growing workload faced by psychologists, with 45% reporting burnout due to increased demands. Co-founder Stanley Efrem emphasized the importance of empowering mental health professionals to spend more time on client interactions rather than paperwork. The new funding will support product development to enhance supervision, assessment, and client interaction features.

One of the upcoming features includes an AI assistant that assists therapists by recalling client details, quoting session content, and flagging potential diagnosis markers. CEO Michael Reider envisions expanding Yung Sidekick into a comprehensive provider-patient platform in the future, introducing client-focused features like AI-driven client chat for a more holistic therapy experience.

Yung Sidekick prioritizes data privacy, complying with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations. The platform does not store personal health information, ensures anonymity in reports and notes, and promptly deletes all audio recordings. For therapists who prefer not to record sessions, a "dictate recap" feature is available.

By leveraging AI technology, Yung Sidekick is revolutionizing mental health documentation and therapy processes, paving the way for more efficient and effective care delivery in the healthcare industry.
