Avnet and Macso Partner to Enhance IoT Solutions with AI Technology

Avnet has teamed up with Macso Technologies from New Zealand to elevate IoT deployments by incorporating advanced AI capabilities. Macso specializes in developing AI models that can harness data from various types of sensors, making them an ideal match for Avnet's IoT technologies. Avnet will furnish original equipment manufacturers with hardware, software, and engineering services that integrate Macso's AI models, equipping them with AI-enhanced edge devices.

According to Saba Samiei, the founder and CEO of Macso, the company is revolutionizing hardware by embedding AI models within it. This innovation allows devices like CCTV cameras to directly alert users about potential security threats, changing the game from passive surveillance to proactive security measures. The overall goal is to make sensors intelligent and responsive to their surroundings.

Initially, the collaboration will prioritize applications related to audio and air quality, with future plans to expand into other domains such as vision, temperature, and pressure sensing. Macso's AI technologies are adept at collaborating with sensors for remote monitoring in operational environments, utilizing unique data collection and processing tools to build customized databases of reference events. These databases are then paired with sophisticated algorithms that extract relevant signals from real-time data streams, transforming them into valuable insights for customers.

Macso's AI solutions have already achieved success on four continents, with notable applications in animal health monitoring and air quality supervision. Avnet will offer these new AI edge solutions through its IoTConnect platform, which was unveiled at Embedded World earlier this year. Customers can easily subscribe to Macso's pre-built models and implement them without the need for extensive training.
