Explore the Redesigned Google Arts & Culture App: New AI-Generated Postcards, Play Tab, and Exciting Features

Google has unveiled an updated version of its Arts & Culture app for Android, with an iOS release anticipated shortly. This redesigned app features a range of engaging additions, including an AI-generated postcards capability, an interactive Play tab, and a TikTok-inspired “Inspire” feed.

One standout addition is the “Poem Postcards” feature, allowing users to send AI-created postcards to friends. Users can choose a piece of artwork, and then select from various poetic forms like sonnets, haikus, or limericks to generate a poem inspired by the art, powered by Google’s PaLM 2 Model. This AI-generated poem can then be shared as a digital postcard, and the feature is currently available in select countries.

To access this feature, simply navigate to an artwork within Google Arts & Culture and click the ‘Poem Postcards’ button to start crafting and sharing your personalized poems.

The app also introduces a fresh “Play” tab where users can experiment with camera tools such as Art Selfie and Art Filter, along with entertaining games like Blob Opera and the newly launched Viola the Bird. The Poem Postcards feature can also be found in this Play tab.

Additionally, users can swipe through a TikTok-like “Inspire” feed, which presents a continuously updated and highly personalized collection of cultural highlights. Google encourages users to draw inspiration from various artifacts, cultural stories, and events across diverse cultural subjects. As on TikTok, users can favorite content to receive more recommendations aligned with their interests.

For deeper explorations, the app introduces a “cultural flywheel” that reveals a range of interconnected cultural content, enhancing your journey of discovery. “For example, if you start with Vermeer’s 'Girl with a Pearl Earring,' the flywheel will uncover cross-cultural connections, showing other depictions of jewelry from different regions and eras,” Google explained in a blog post. “We are constantly exploring new ways to connect cultural content, ensuring this feature will evolve over time.”

Lastly, the revamped app facilitates easier exploration of various cultural themes including art, food, fashion, crafts, and science. Users can browse through artifacts, cultural tales, partner collections, and more, narrowing down their search by location, topic, and creator.

Google emphasizes that these updates aim to enhance accessibility and make it more intuitive for users to engage and uncover an array of cultural experiences.
