Google Shopping is introducing a personalized feed designed to showcase products that match your interests. This new feature is accessible on both mobile and desktop devices at shopping.google.com. At the top of the page, you'll find a carousel of items you've recently viewed, enabling easy access to your previous searches. As you scroll down, Google will recommend products and relevant videos tailored to your preferences, using your recent search history and YouTube content for personalization.
If you encounter a product that doesn't appeal to you, simply hit the “thumbs-down” button to refine your feed and prevent similar recommendations. This setup resembles the algorithm-driven “For You” pages found on platforms like TikTok, Instagram, Threads, and YouTube.
“Imagine a store tailored just to your interests—that's what we're aiming to create,” said Sean Scott, Google’s Vice President and General Manager of Consumer Shopping. Additionally, Google is launching a personalized deals tab to further enhance the shopping experience. Note that personalization features won’t be visible unless you are logged into your Google account.
Google is also enhancing the shopping experience with AI-generated summaries. Now, when you search for a product and click the “Shopping” tab, you’ll see an overview that includes tips on what to consider when making a purchase. Scrolling down reveals top recommended products, along with insights on why each item is worth considering. For example, searching “tea kettle for matcha” may show you suggestions such as kettles featuring "precise temperature control" and "fast boiling with keep warm function."
To determine recommended products, Google analyzes keywords across a vast array of online reviews, effectively pulling relevant content to the forefront.
Google's revamped shopping experience is rolling out to mobile and desktop users in the US over the coming weeks.
