GoStudent Secures Additional $95M to Expand AI and VR-Enhanced Tutoring Solutions

GoStudent, a prominent late-stage tutoring marketplace that has raised a remarkable $686.3 million to date, has secured an additional $95 million in a strategic fundraising effort. This round was led by Deutsche Bank, and included contributions from investors such as Left Lane Capital, DN Capital, Tencent, Prosus, DST, Coatue, and Softbank Vision Fund 2. The funding consists of both equity and debt capital.

With this new influx of capital, GoStudent is actively pursuing acquisitions to enhance its offerings. Recently, the company acquired Studienkreis, a well-established tutoring provider based in Germany, as part of its strategy to integrate complementary educational products.

Valued at an estimated €3 billion, the edtech unicorn plans to utilize these funds to deliver "enhanced hybrid learning solutions in the DACH region." This translates to an increase in both online and offline educational resources, along with the expansion of GoVR, GoStudent’s newly launched virtual reality platform for language learning.

Additionally, GoStudent is stepping into the world of artificial intelligence, with a commitment to prioritize the development of AI-driven educational tools. The platform currently boasts around 23,000 tutors and is set to introduce an “AI lesson plan generator” tailored to local curriculums, designed to save tutors an average of 15 minutes per lesson.

Felix Ohswald, CEO and co-founder of GoStudent, highlighted the transformative power of customized learning: “We witness daily how personalized education can boost a child’s confidence. By integrating AI-driven support and virtual reality lessons with traditional tutoring, we can create truly individualized learning pathways for every child, preparing them for future success.”

Harley Miller, CEO and managing partner at Left Lane Capital, commented on GoStudent's future: “As GoStudent strengthens its existing VR capabilities and unveils innovative AI tools, while fostering synergies with Studienkreis, we see even greater potential to realize its vision of hybrid online and offline tutoring.”
